Haunted Restaurants in San Antonio

If you're looking for spirits, you'll find more than liquor at these haunted bars and restaurants.

One of the exciting things about visiting somewhere new is getting the chance to taste the unique and authentic cuisines that it has to offer. And you know Texas is famous for its Tex-Mex cuisines. We have some of San Antonio’s best bars and restaurants here for you to try. Just be warned, that table of four you’re sitting at just might be a table of five... even if you can’t see the fifth member.

A Spooky Bar

Bar 414

A place that’s just oozing with cool, this prohibition bar has been serving drinks and class for decades at the Gunter Hotel. This is also where King of Blues Robert Johnson recorded the majority of his albums.

Despite its elegance, this establishment holds a dark history and darker ghosts. The ghosts of Walter Emerick and a blonde woman can be seen sometimes having a drink, the same blonde woman that he killed in the hotel. There is a chill about the place, and it’s not coming from the cool jazz.

A Spooky Candle

Colonial Room Restaurant

This Victorian culinary delight has been serving high-quality meals at the Menger Hotel for over 150 years. There have been reports of a young spirit of a girl named Sarah who likes to roam the restaurant, whispering in the ears of patrons as they eat.

It would seem the poor girl was trampled to death by a horse outside the hotel and has remained there ever since. For those of you planning to enjoy a meal there, maybe order an extra dessert for Sarah.

Skull with Drinks

Oro Restaurant

This upscale restaurant creates the perfect atmosphere against the Emily Morgan Hotel’s gothic aesthetic. Oro provides modern and genuine Texan cuisine with a fully stocked bar.

Like the hotel, the restaurant has had its fair share of hauntings. From your room beds to your morning breakfast, ghosts seem to be on every floor. We can assume they paid to be here too after all.

A Pumpkin

Rebelle Bar

This St. Anthony Hotel bar and restaurant promises a unique and savory experience with every bite. Mirroring the hotel’s reputation, the restaurant has quite a fair deal of hauntings.

A more prominent apparition is a lady in a red dress who frequents the lady’s bathroom, her noticeably loud heels echoing off the tiled floor. Those in the bathroom have seen her enter into a stall only to disappear entirely afterward. This might be a bathroom you should consider going in groups.

A Spooky Corridor

Market on Huston

This restaurant has all the feel of southern comfort with old family cooking as many of the ingredients are farm fresh and inspired by simple living on the range. Such a comforting atmosphere is an odd contrast with the spirits that reside within.

The ghosts of two flapper girls from the 1920s, Ingrid and Peggy, can sometimes be heard arguing. What exactly they are arguing about is not known, just don’t ask them to split the bill when the night is over. They may start an argument with you.
