So, why do so many people consider the LaLaurie House in the French Quarter of New Orleans so haunted? It might have to do with an incident that happened all the way back in 1834. A fire broke out, revealing the LaLaurie’s slaves in, let us say, less than desirable conditions. It is one of the grimmest stories about haunted New Orleans.

The Gardette Le Prete House, also known as the Sultan’s Palace, is one of New Orleans’ most intriguing stories about ghosts and hauntings in the French Quarter. After talking with its residence, we know that this house is certainly haunted, but why?

Let me begin by stating that our guide Carl was incredibly informative. There is a group of about 17 of us here from Texas on a bachelorette party so you can only imagine what he had to work with!! We had lots of questions and excitement as we all arrived only hours before. The tour lasted a little over an hour and a half with a short break during the tour. We got a large dose of history with some really creepy stories in the mix. I learned a whole lot about the city, culture, voodoo, and was legitimately creeped out all at the same time! I absolutely recommend this one and especially Carl.

Took a tour last night 2/15/16. Our tour guide was John. John was very friendly and accommodating. He was also very knowledgable about the great city of New Orleans and his love of the city was evident throughout the tour. I would recommend the tour even to those not interested in ghosts.
