Ghost City's Guide to the Ultimate Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving, like any other holiday, is steeped in tradition, but it is also the product of horrifying history, petrifying politics, and a veritable smorgasbord of horrible deeds and untimely deaths, making it as fine of a backdrop as any when it comes to probing for the paranormal.

Despite the reality of American history being much more complicated, especially when it comes to relations—if you can call them that—with the native people who occupied this land long before we moved in uninvited, there is an even larger misconception about the origin of Thanksgiving.

To this day, people have reported glimpses of a white doe in the forest, only to disappear in the thick brush. Could it be the spirit of Virginia Day? The last and true remnant of Roanoke? Only the White Doe knows.

Across the plantation strange voices can be heard in the night, tools and artifacts will move from one place to another or even disappear completely, and people dressed in period clothing can be seen walking the grounds long after the staff has clocked out.
