Why You Should Work for Ghost City Tours

Why Work with Ghost City Tours?

working with Ghost City can be exciting - should you join us?

Ghost City Tours prides itself on stories. Stories of life, stories of death, and stories of what waits beyond the veil of both. Stories like these are scattered throughout the United States, in cities that have moved on from the past but haven’t forgotten it.

Stories that need to be told.

Stories that we need you to tell.

On the stage, actors have the ability to take dialogue and convey the story of their character. Their thoughts and emotions and fears are all told through words and brought to life for an audience.

The stories that are in our tours, stories of people and places, have their own thoughts and emotions and fears that are begging to come out. That are ready to come to life. That we know you are capable of bringing to life.

You won’t be tour guides. You’ll be storytellers. Performers. Talent. The street lamps will be your spotlights and the pavement will be your stage. Your interview will be an audition process. We want to see your energy and enthusiasm and storytelling ability. We want to see those emotions.

More than anything, we want to see that you have fun.

We at Ghost City make sure to benefit our performers in the best ways possible. It’s what we strive for more than anything. With that being said, we’ve compiled some of the best benefits and reasons on why performing at Ghost City is unlike any other company around.

A Smooth Rehearsal Process

We understand the importance of a good rehearsal: learning your blocking, getting the feel of your character, going through the beats of the show scene by scene. We work with the same rehearsal process for our tours as we would for a stage production.

When we cast you, we make sure to get you your script in advance of the rehearsal process. You’re given a week before rehearsal starts, allowing you time to begin your line memorization and learning the beats of the script. The rehearsal process itself is ten days spread out over two weeks.

Once rehearsals begin, your tour director will work with you and your fellow actors, moving from one location to another on the tour route. Very much like going from scene to scene in a play. You’ll go over your lines on each stop, and your director will work with you to make sure the cadence and pacing of your lines are perfect along with working on bringing out the emotions of the story.

Before you know it, it’s opening night and the show begins.

Flexible Hours

You could say that this provides an advantage from the somewhat rigidness of doing staged productions. Normally, you have a set number of performances a week for a number of weeks at a designated time.

However, being cast for Ghost City, the hours and days that you work are designated to what you want and operated by you. The only rigidness you might find with us is our tours taking place only at night.

The Opportunity for Exploration

Large cities seem to have their own built-in culture, whether it be the food that restaurants serve or the unique stores found at every corner. Austin is known for its music scene, New Orleans for its voodoo.

As denizens of the cities that Ghost City occupies, you already have an advantage as our performers to know the city, its culture, and its history.

But at Ghost City, we like to explore the more unknown places of our cities, places that aren’t talked about much or aren’t as well known as others. They may be places that you know very well. Or they may be places that you’re just hearing about for the first time.

Whichever category you may find yourself in, being an actor for Ghost City Tours allows you to explore the city you love in a way you didn’t even know was possible. And your audience will be with you every step of the way.
