Spend Halloween in a Haunted Hotel

Curl Up to the Ghosts of San Antonio

It’s one thing to go to a haunted attraction to get into the Halloween spirit. It’s another thing to experience the supernatural yourself.

The best way to do that is at a haunted hotel. That’s why we’ve come up with the best and most haunted hotels and bed & breakfasts in San Antonio to give you that extra Halloween flair. After all, there's nothing is spookier than sharing a bed with a ghost.

The haunted hotel

The Emily Morgan Hotel

This gothic hotel has only been housing guests since the mid-80s, being built as a medical center in the 1920s. Now, it stands as one of San Antonio’s best and most haunted hotels.

It would seem that nearly every floor has one form of haunted energy, from faucets turning on on their own to doors opening and closing on their own. The 7th floor even seems to have the shrieking ghost of a bride. If you’re looking to book a room this Halloween season, just remember to bring earplugs.

A Woman with a Knife

St. Anthony Hotel

One of the first luxury hotels in Texas, St. Anthony has been housing both citizens and celebrities since 1909. And, with its tenure, the hotel seems to be housing many ghosts.

A more well-known apparition is the lady in the red dress, whose heels can be heard from the woman’s bathroom. But once she enters, she vanishes. Another entity can be found in room 536, where a man wanted for murder took his life as the police surrounded him. Staff will sometimes bring towels into the room, only for the door to be blocked off a moment later. When you book your room, you’ll never know who or what you’ll bump into.

A Spooky Hall

Black Swan Inn

Once a battleground, a dairy farm, and land settled by Native Americans thousands of years ago, this quaint little inn is teeming with history and the perfect spot for any romantic vacation. The inn is also teeming with the spirits of former owners through the centuries.

Their apparitions can be seen all over, along with unexplained lights and noises. When booking your room, just know that your bed might not be as empty as you think.

The Skeleton Reading a Book

Holiday Inn Express

Once an 1870s jailhouse, which also oversaw the last public hanging in 1921, this inn has quite its share of history. As it provides comfort to weary travelers, it also provides comfort to the dead.

Supernatural reports of all kinds have been made at the inn, from extreme cold spots to motion detectors picking up movement in completely empty rooms. One report even mentioned waking up to a pain in their arm, only to see finger bruises on it hours later, as if something was gripping them. Just remember to put some padding on your arms when you book your room.

A Spooky Corridor

Hotel Gibbs

This office building has only recently become a hotel in the last 15 years, and it’s less than a minute walk from the Alamo. In that time, and the hundred years since its completion, this building has accumulated quite a few ghosty residents.

Guests often see a glimpse of someone in period clothes only to have them disappear. Other guests have heard the ding of the elevator or a wisp of someone going in as the doors closed. And the weird thing is, the elevators haven’t been in use for years. Since all the ghosts take the elevator, you shouldn’t run into any when you take the stairs.
